Porn And The Real World
Much the way a lot of folks wonder what they ever saw in an ex, I look back and wonder about my career choice in the porn industry. There are a lot of things I would have done differently had I known I would have wasted 20 years of my life, working and driving toward a goal that, all along was unattainable. As they say, hindsight is 20/20. Had I worked independently all along, for myself, not reliant on the sites, I could have achieved a high level of success, enough to compete. The scum club wouldn’t have that though. But did I want to compete with that? They own everything, under more names than I can list off the top of my head. Was I really in this for the long haul … or did I just get caught up in what offered freedom from the daily grind? That’s what it was in the beginning, when it was all fresh. Thinking about it, is the real world is really any different than the porn world?
In the porn world, we’re brainwashed by the big companies, we’re treated like dirt by them, promised one thing and then given something else after we’ve bought into it. We’re expendable, replaceable, disposable and recyclable. We’re told to never bite the hand that feeds us. It’s funny because we’re actually the hand that feeds them. A very bullying attitude takes over once they have you where they want you because they have what they wanted and now, frankly, you can go to hell.
Everything in the contracts are to benefit them, not us. There is nothing to protect us from being screwed over by them. In fact, they alleviate themselves from any wrongdoing, accidental or not. Let’s just blame the servers. Those damn things only work when the site is billing customers (got a fully functional 24/7/52/365 operational there). 😉
Sometimes, when you’re in it, you don’t see things as clearly as when you take a step back. What’s the difference between the porn world’s treatment of people and that of the real world’s? Not a damn thing.
