Traffic On The Decline?
I spent the better part of last night snuggled up watching Family Guy with my boyfriend. It just happens to be of two shows on television that even remotely justifies the (still outrageously overpriced for what you get that’s any good) cable bill cost. The later part of my evening was spent putting on the “do me” face, deciding what sexy outfit to wear, and then the final steps; lights, camera, action.
My shift started out with a few members entering and leaving, as usual, and then the fill up, where we usually see a huge number of watchers and while some come and go, the volume of members remain stable. The last three days were different. The volume was substantially down. Last night, it wasn’t long before I saw that member list start to dwindle down from a room full of memebrs to just over a handful. It stayed rather steady at that handful for a good while. I became worried, as I’m used to seeing way more than that. The last 3 shifts I worked have been like this though. Traffic ebbs and flows are common, but I’ve never seen it this bad before. There are things to consider when this happens, like where my placement is on the site to know that my listing is displayed on the mainstream areas, for exposure to a good majority of members. Check. There is also events like big games to consider. Not at this time. Check. There are several others and my checklist is pretty full. Luckily, the wind blew some power lines while I was entertaining guests in the room. A lot of people lost power in and around the city, and I’m in one of the zones that got knocked out. So, I lost power for quite some time. If that wasn’t my cue, it certainly did present itself as a good opportunity for me to step away from the computer and gather some uninterrupted perspective on the situation. Or so I thought. To better assess the situation, I’ve decided to do a little investigating myself. While I didn’t get the answers I had hoped for, I did gain a little insight into what I can do to rectify the problem. Only time will tell.
